Medicare Supplement Plans - Plan F
Most Comprehensive Plan
Out of the ten standardized Medicare Supplemental Insurance plans, Plan F has the most benefits. As the most comprehensive Medigap plan, it is often more expensive than Medigap plans with fewer benefits. Plan F includes all the following coverage:
- Part A hospital co-insurance costs up to an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are exhausted
- Part B co-payment or co-insurance coverage
- First three pints of blood used in an approved medical procedure
- Part A hospice care co-insurance or co-payment
- Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) care co-insurance
- Medicare Part A deductible
- Medicare Part B deductible
- Medicare Part B 'excess charges'
- Foreign travel emergency coverage (up to plan limits)
- Medicare preventive care Part B co-insurance
High-Deductible Plan F
Alongside the standard Medigap Plan F, there is a 'high deductible' version of Plan F. In the high-deductible version, you pay your out-of-pocket Medicare costs for the first $2,070 until your Medigap begins paying for coverage. Because you are responsible for higher out-of-pocket costs, a high-deductible Plan F is less expensive than a standard Plan F.
Our Medigap plan benefit chart allows you to compare the comprehensive benefits of Plan F to the other standardized Medicare Supplement plans.
