Medicare Part D - Prescription Drug Coverage

Let's turn our attention to using the Plan Prescriber tool to choose the right Part D plan for you.

With thousands of Part D plans available, each with its own formulary, co-pay, deductable, etc, it can be complicated to find and choose the right plan for you. Plan Prescriber optimizes the plan after you input your zip code, prescription drug usage, and existing (or present) insurance plan.

To get started from the home page, make your insurance selection by clicking the "Prescription Drug Coverage" button. Enter your zip code, and then click "Compare Rates".

Or, from the Medicare Part D page, enter your contact information.

It is possible to personalize and refine your results and calculate your plan savings by inputting the prescription drugs you regularly use, and telling us which kind of coverage you currently have. To begin personalizing and refining your results, first click the "My Drugs" button to the left, and enter the prescription medications that you routinely use. Enter the first few letters of the medication name and you'll be prompted with a list of medications from which to choose. Click on the right medication name, select the correct dosage, adjust the monthly quantity (if necessary) and then click "Add". Continue entering your medications until you're finished, and then click the "Done" button.

If you have a current Medicare plan, click "Choose Plan" and select your plan from the drop down menu. Then click "Done."

From the top of the Plan Results page you can move among the tabs to see Health Plans with Drug Coverage, Prescription Drug Coverage Plans ONLY, or Health Plans without Prescription Drug coverage.

Many plans offer online enrollment which can be fast and convenient. If you are interested in only those plans offering online enrollment options check the appropriate box.

Interested in seeing how one plan compares to another in terms of features? Clicking the Compare checkbox for each and then clicking the "Compare" link at the top of the page displays the plan features side by side so you can make a well informed choice.

Interested in learning more about a specific plan? Click the "Summary of Benefits" link to learn the specifics of the plan.

If you need to get more information before completing the process or if you get interrupted while reviewing plans go ahead and save your Plan Results so you can pick up where you left off at a later time.
